A Brief Biography of Bobbie
Burdett
by Al Schmidt

When Bobbie first came to the studio her impression was not unlike most folks in that it was a chaotic, noisy, dirty place full of strange equipment and tons of odd pieces of metal called "junk" by many. But very early on, her curiosity and creative drive motivated her to find out just how some of this equipment worked. With a few lessons behind her, she was soon Mig welding pieces of metal together and cutting
out shapes with a plasma torch. She said, "All of a sudden I started seeing the "junk" as creative possibility and the formerly uninviting place became absolutely magical." As a painter and graphic artist, she had discovered a new pallet with which to create and took to the new tools as if the instruction codes were there all along.

Now, besides
her many other roles, including web mastering this
site, she can often be found working on one of the studio projects or at her
workbench creating another wonderfully whimsical assemblage sculpture.
As a "people" person with a psychology and wellness background, it's doubtful that she will give up her Life Coaching practice to pursue metalwork full time, but you can be sure that you will see many exciting works coming out of the studio with her fingerprints on them.
Check out the
Assemblage
page for a look at some of her recent works.
